Filet Mignon - Daily Definition

Filed under: Uncategorized — Nicky @ 8:48 am

Today’s daily definition is filet mignon.(sticking with our Valentine’s Day is next week theme)  We all know that filet mignon is a pricey cut of beef, but what other information should we know about it.  This definition comes from epicurious.com.

“filet mignon
[fih-LAY mihn-YON]
This expensive, boneless cut of beef comes from the small end of the tenderloin. The filet mignon is usually 1 to 2 inches thick and 1 1/2 to 3 inches in diameter. It’s extremely tender but lacks the flavor of beef with the bone attached. Cook filet mignon quickly by broiling, grilling or sautéing.”

Here’s a link to a recipe for Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola Sauce from epicurious.com.
