Al Dente - Daily Definition

Filed under: Daily Definition — Nicky @ 10:03 am

If you watch Food TV, you hear this term often, especially from Giada and Rachel.  We all know it has something to do with pasta.  What exactly does al dente mean?  Today’s daily definition comes from about.com.

“Al Dente - refers to the desired texture of cooked pasta in Italian cooking. It literally means “to the tooth”. When the pasta is cooked al dente, there should be a slight resistance in the center when the pasta is chewed.”
