One of my all time favorite vegetarian cookbooks is Vegetarian Classics by Jeanne Lemlin. It’s really difficult to find really good vegetarian cookbooks, but this one is fabulous.  A word of caution this book is directed more toward the lacto-ovo vegetarian and much less toward the vegan lifestyle. Some of my favorite recipes include the meatless meatloaf (which is just fun to explain to people when they ask what’s for dinner), cranberry orange quick bread, and red pepper corn chowder. Most of the recipes in the book are geared toward a healthier lifestyle, although the dessert section is just that, a good old fashioned dessert section. This is a great book if you are just starting out on a vegetarian lifestyle or would like to cook for a friend who is vegetarian. The recipes are pretty quick and easy and most can be done by a first time cook.  And with a relatively cheap price you can’t go wrong, so if you are in the mood for some good vegetarian food pick this one up.Â
